Why your kills arrive late
Last month a customer in Faisalabad returned a pair because “PUBG sound is behind the screen.” The box said Gaming Mode in letters big enough to read from the street. The buds were fine for YouTube. They were lying about games.
Bluetooth always adds delay. Game mode tries to shrink it by shrinking audio quality and skipping fancy processing. Some brands honestly drop to 40–60 ms. Some print “45 ms” on the sticker and never tell you that number only works on one phone with one codec on a full battery.
Numbers that matter in 2026
- Under ~60 ms: Most people stop noticing gunshot delay in COD Mobile or PUBG.
- 60–100 ms: Playable if you are casual. Ranked players will feel it.
- Above 120 ms: You will swear the enemy shot first. Returns go up in our shop at this band.
- Wired 3.5 mm or USB-C gaming buds: Still the honest zero-lag option when Rs 2,000 matters more than wireless.
The ten-second test at the door
If you buy on cash on delivery, do this before you pay:
- Pair the buds, open a YouTube Shorts clip with sharp claps or a snare drum.
- Watch the lips or the stick hit. If sound lands clearly after the visual, note how far.
- Install COD Mobile or your main game, fire one shot in training mode. Listen for echo between muzzle flash and crack.
- Toggle game mode in the app if there is one. If lag does not change, game mode is marketing.
When we tell people to skip TWS for gaming
Motorbike commutes, sweaty gym sessions, and kids who share one phone still buy neckbands or wired sets. If you play two hours nightly and you are competitive, spend the time on latency, not RGB case lights.
